After two days in the bustling city, we decided to enjoy nature again yesterday. From Melbourne, we took a trip to Phillip Island, which is famous for its evening penguin parade, where the penguins come from the sea to the beach at dusk.
But our first stop on the island was the Koala Observation Center. We were able to watch a total of 11 koalas sleeping here from the visitor's path. And then there were also kangaroos, which sometimes just stood on the path as if they were as surprised to see us as we were to see them.
Shortly before sunset, we drove to the Nature Park Center to watch the penguin walk. Unfortunately, we couldn't see very well from our spot on the beach because the 'little penguins' are really small. However, we could see them better later from the visitor's paths as they waddled inland. Really cute! Since we (unlike many other tourists) obeyed the rangers' rules and didn't take any photos, there are unfortunately no photos of the penguins to see.
Today we are in Lakes Entrance and we actually lay on the beach. Although we were relatively bundled up, at least we were able to enjoy it. When you have 30km of beach right at your doorstep, you have to make use of it.
