Sparta, Mystras and Olympia

3 places of significance 

Initially, Sparta and Mystras were not on our itinerary, but since it was only an hour detour, we took this little side trip to take a closer look at these two small towns. 

In Sparta, in addition to the typical statue, there is also an excavation site, which is surprisingly small and overgrown. You can find it near the statue and the stadium. 🏟️

After about 30 minutes of visit, we continue to the neighboring village of Mystras. On the way there, we are already impressed by the castle and monasteries on the mountain. ⛰️

We drive up to the upper entrance (there would have been another one further down) and park our car in the shade, which doesn't help at all 😂☀️

Since we don't have much time to explore the entire area (estimated duration 4 hours), we walk around the site a bit and take a look
