Press - Spain

発行済み: 15.10.2016

Despite the Spanish flair of Santa Barbara, a siesta was unfortunately not on the agenda for us today.

Surprisingly, we were able to sleep until 8:00 am today - that was the first time on vacation that we could sleep that long. Usually, the night was always over by 6:30 am at the latest.

After a quick breakfast, we went to the laundry - that's what a laundry is called here. We encountered unforeseen obstacles here. After several washer and dryer cycles, Maxi is convinced that the dryer selected between his and Verena's clothes and only his clothes shrunk 😂 Whether that's really the case remains to be seen. It was definitely an adventure.

The adventure continued at Santa Barbara Airport. Here we had to exchange our Chrysler (Verena is spelling the name correctly for the first time 😂) for a Hyundai (and even this one could only be spelled with Maxi's help).

We just didn't want to spend another 2,000 miles with a flashing airbag service sign.

Conclusion: level up!

It drives better, is cleaner, newer, and better equipped. We just have to take a moment of silence for our skylight that we no longer have 😭

With this car, we can drive the upcoming miles without worries!

Afterwards, we visited the most important sightseeing points of Santa Barbara in really nice weather. As mentioned yesterday, you feel like you're in the middle of Spain here.

Unfortunately, these houses are also typically American. Behind the supposed stone facade is only wood 😩

However, the city is simply breathtaking!

Then we headed to a very small beach where many locals were walking their dogs, doing yoga, or just sitting together with friends and snacks.

We actually wanted to swim in the water - but it was just too cold ☃️❄️ (the water temperature was about 15 degrees Celsius).

On the way back, we got a glimpse of the wealthy side of the city. We passed villas that were just amazing. For example, stars like Oprah Winfrey live here.

Dinner was at a restaurant right on a wooden pier at the harbor.

Tomorrow our day starts very early because we have a monster route ahead of us. We will pass Los Angeles and go all the way to San Diego on the Mexican border. That's about 4.5 hours of pure driving time.

Until tomorrow and many greetings

Verena and Maxi
