La Coruña

We experienced La Coruña in two stages. We spent the first two nights in a suburb of the city. The campsite was right on the beach, but this time without cliffs or mountains in between. We left the campsite and we were already on the beach. The good thing for me, Cindy, was the calm sea, so I could easily go into the water. Amélie thought it was a bit boring without waves, but at least Mom could come in too, which is not bad.

Apart from swimming, sunbathing, and playing a bit of water polo, we didn't do much. Well, there was a big search operation because Steffi dropped her expensive Ray Ban sunglasses into the water while playing ball. Her skilled goalkeeper jump towards the ball looked great (once a handball pro, always a handball pro), but unfortunately, the glasses went for a swim because of it.

For the third night, we had a pitch right at the port of La Coruña: way too expensive but with all the amenities, a great view of the boats, and only a few meters from the old town. Only the cruise ship could have parked further away for my taste because being woken up from a nap by the ship horn gave me a strong heartbeat and my scream afterwards was at least as loud as the horn itself...

The old part of La Coruña (ciudad vieja) is quite nice to look at, there are large squares with impressive buildings, many small pubs and restaurants, and a great manga comic store. Elisa and Amélie felt like they were in paradise, and their pocket money was well invested in manga books.

Conclusion La Coruña: nice city, but Bilbao and San Sebastian have much more charm.
