Today I drove to the GUM Market again and stocked up on a larger amount of dried fruit.
Then I drove aimlessly through the outskirts of Yerevan, eventually ending up in the area around Garni and Geghard by chance. Beautiful mountains and valleys, lovely music, just a relaxed tour of over 100km in length...
In the late afternoon, I drove back to Yerevan.
Now, in the past few days, I have noticed several things:
1. It is very beautiful here.
2. My shampoo and shower gel are running out.
3. My travel diary is full, I had to insert additional pages.
4. The travel pen no longer writes.
All of this, combined with the old rule of thumb 'You should quit while you're ahead,' led me to the decision to fly home tonight.
It has become much more than what I have dreamed of in recent years. I feel very fortunate to have had these opportunities. Therefore, it is a clear and correct decision for me here and now. I also have some concern that some other situation that might come up could tarnish this beautiful memory.
The flight leaves in the middle of the night, so I will be home tomorrow afternoon.
So I packed and sorted everything essential. In the meantime, I quickly went to the hairdresser, as it was much needed after a long time.
And then I brought the van to my Armenian acquaintances. It is now standing in the corner, waiting to hopefully be revived soon.
But that's another 'journey' story...
After a few drinks with the Armenians in their courtyard, the taxi took me to the airport.
Check-in went smoothly. The suitcase, allowed to weigh a maximum of 25kg, weighed 24.6kg. During our joint evening estimates, we all overestimated by more than 5kg. But luckily, it still worked out, so I didn't have to repack anything.
During check-in, I also received a ticket for the business lounge in front of the gate. I wasn't aware that I had booked something like that, but I won't complain about it either. I'm curious to see what awaits me there, as I usually travel in economy class, if at all.
But with the passing of the security area, a new day begins, which is why this post ends here.
