El Chaltén and finally some pictures

発行済み: 01.02.2017

After a long bus ride through the Patagonian wilderness, I arrived in El Chaltén on January 28th, a small town in the middle of nowhere that was founded in 1985 and serves mainly as a starting point for the famous treks in the surrounding nature. On the day of arrival, I explored the town and went to a viewpoint with a good view of the city. Unfortunately, the hostel is a bit anonymous and impersonal. Although I was able to meet some nice people, it didn't have the same atmosphere as the hostel in El Bolsón. The next day, the actual program started, the first of the two most famous treks, to Lago Torres. After about three hours, I arrived there and even though I had really bad luck with the weather, it was raining and the view of the top of Cerro Terro was obscured, it was a truly impressive scenery. On one side, there was the lake, surrounded by rugged rocks, then the glacier of Cerro Torre, and at the same time, the surrounding green nature. The next day, I took a day off, which was a wise decision due to my sore muscles and blisters on my feet. Today, with perfect weather, little wind, and clear skies, I hiked to Laguna de los Tres, which, together with Fitz Roy, the highest mountain in the area (3405m), is the main attraction of the region. The whole tour took about 8 hours, with an elevation difference of about 800 meters. Overall, the route was rather easy, but the final, very steep ascent was very demanding. However, when I arrived at the lagoon, I had an incredibly impressive view of the lagoon, Fitz Roy, and the entire surrounding area. Tomorrow, I will continue to El Calafate to see the famous Perito Moreno Glacier.
In addition, I have now uploaded a few pictures of my previous stops, have fun looking at them :).
