Finally be a child again and go to school

Yesterday, after a 22-hour journey, we arrived safely in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, and immediately had a nice evening with our host family. We are now Alicia and Galo's children for 2 weeks, which we really like. This morning, Galo showed us our way to school and then we had to cram vocabulary into our brains for 5 hours. That's when I realized again how exhausting a normal school morning is for students ;) There are 2 other Germans with us at the language school, but we all have individual lessons and we complain about how many vocabulary words we still have to learn and how many homework assignments there are during the breaks... I now empathize much more with my kids and hopefully won't be so strict starting next school year ;)

Comment from Tömmi: Besides sweating every minute and saying 'si' a thousand times, there was also a lot to laugh about during my 5-hour individual lessons, for example when I accidentally said 'I like spider juice' instead of 'I like orange juice'. Thankfully, my teacher Carla has a great sense of humor and patience with me.

In the afternoon, we had to study hard on our awesome rooftop terrace with a view of the whole city of Quito, my head is spinning now, but Tömmi is still hanging in there and only smokes his e-cigarette!

Hopefully, there won't be any homework tomorrow, we want to explore the old town, Quito is said to be one of the most beautiful colonial cities in South America, we are excited!
