In Sibenik on the Dalmatian coast

Birt: 21.07.2019

Yesterday our journey took us from the Kvarner Bay to Dalmatia. First, we had to wait for about an hour for the car ferry from Cres.

Arriving on the mainland, the roads wound around numerous bays.

After four hours, we arrived in the old Croatian royal city of Sibenik, left our car in a harbor parking lot, and had to walk 15 minutes with luggage to the old town.

Our Buzza apartment is definitely the highlight of our three-week trip. The apartment is located right in the car-free old town in one of the idyllic alleys. There is a cool bar downstairs.

Across three floors, the tastefully furnished rooms extend with two terraces. In the evening, you can relax on the balcony (with a view of the sea) and listen to the hustle and bustle of the bar Rebus with a glass of wine or beer.

Today we explored Sibenik, which is located near the mouth of the Krka River in an expand of the river resembling a lake.

The city was built in the limestone cliffs in a terraced manner from 1066 onwards and is reflected in the green-blue water of the wide bay.

We visited, among other things, the fortification of Sv. Mihovil with a panoramic view over the rooftops of Sibenik and the Cathedral of Sv. Jakov. It is said that the sculptor depicted contemporaries on the portrait frieze who were too stingy to contribute to the construction costs of the cathedral - see photo.
