I had neither booked an excursion nor a shuttle bus ride, so I left the container port where our ship was docked this time on foot.

I chose a small city museum and Fukushuen Park as my destination.

I found the city museum uninteresting, but the park was nice. After I had taken an ice cream from the vending machine and eaten it, I walked on and was guided to a small restaurant. No one spoke English there, but the menu had pictures. So I was able to choose a noodle soup with pork and cheese.

After dinner, I went to the nearby monorail stop, managed to buy a day pass from the machine, and rode the entire monorail route: first to the airport, then to the other end, then back towards the airport to the stop closest to the container port. City tour for less than USD 6.00.

But "next" meant that I still had an hour's walk ahead of me. First I got drinking water from a vending machine, of which there are plenty there. Then I walked through parts of the area where I hardly saw any people or moving cars. My smartphone led me back to the ship, sometimes on back roads.

In the evening we were entertained by the magician Leo Ward.
