23.10.19 Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy Argentina Day 4

Today we have planned a hike to Laguna Torre during breakfast. The length of the tour is about 10 km each way. We will receive some tips from the hotel and set off at 9 o'clock, fortified by a good breakfast.

The weather is great and after a short walk, we already have a view of Fitz Roy, which is rarely seen without clouds.

The first 2.5 km is all uphill until you reach the first viewpoint, Mirador del Cerro Torre. Here you have a fantastic view of the entire mountain massif.

Since we still have about 8 km ahead of us, we continue downhill into a high plateau. Always along the Rio Fitz Roy, through southern beech forests, nature is just awakening here,

across streams,

through heathlands,

 so many different beautiful impressions with the mountain massif always in view.

After about 3.5 hours we reach Laguna Torre with a view of Cerro Torre and the glacier.
Awesome!!

Here all hikers take a break and we also eat our cheese sandwiches. We still have about 11 km to walk back to the hotel.
The way back is no less beautiful, but somehow longer. 

We arrive back in El Chaltén exhausted but happy and jump in the shower first.
Then we go back to our favorite pub, where an Aperol costs €2.20 and the nachos are delicious.

Another beautiful and eventful day is coming to an end. The sun sets here only around 8:30 pm.
