Mon 4.10. Inari - Pyhä-Luosto National Park

Cloudy with some sun and a little drizzle rain

Since we have already found accommodation for the night, we take our time packing up and make a detour to a suspension bridge over rapids at the upper reaches of the Inari River. Here too, there is a covered barbecue area and a toilet, like at many hiking trails. The path from the parking lot here is wide and comfortable to walk, it is even designated as wheelchair accessible.

On the way further south, reindeer keep appearing and crossing the road.

The town of Saariselkä, from which the hiking trails into the national park start, is very touristy, especially because of the nearby ski slopes.

Since we still have some time, we decide to do a short circuit hike in the national park, the hiking trails only slowly move away from the hustle and bustle of the ski resort.

In the town, there are also Christmas decorations everywhere, and we don't like it at all. Luckily, we chose the Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Nevertheless, we go here to have a reindeer pizza.

After another 130 km through a flat forest and lake landscape, we reach our cabin, which is a really pleasant surprise. It is located right at the entrance to the national park and the facilities have everything we need: plenty of space, kitchen with all the accessories, sauna, plenty of storage space, and a double bed!

And at the same time, it is the starting point for the hikes we have planned, we don't need to move the car.
