22. Batumi (Georgia)

Birt: 09.09.2021

01.09.21-08.09.21

We can't really believe it ourselves - we actually made it to Georgia (along with our car!) and have now reached our first major milestone!!

Yeah!
On the car! On Georgia! On the first 3 months!
Our little neighborhood around the corner'

Batumi is a perfect start: the people are cosmopolitan, easy-going, everyone just lets each other do their own thing - after the very conservative Rize, we feel immediately comfortable!

Europe Square in the center of the old town

Unfortunately, it's been raining continuously for the first few days, so we can only use small time windows to explore the beautiful city.

Until 2013, Batumi was a sleepy little place, then the government legalized gambling and since then pompous skyscrapers and casinos have sprung up, attracting tourists from Iran, Russia and Turkey. It is comparable to Dubai, which is also planned.

Also, because it has been raining for so long, we extend our stay for a few more days. We finally play ping pong, eat the best Georgian food and find - of course - many kittens that want to be fed and loved.

Where is Reinhard??

The move between the two apartments only takes 4 minutes by car - now it is clear that the Georgians are just as crazy in traffic as the Albanians. In 4 minutes, a car almost crashed into us three times, so it's no wonder that almost every car looks like this here:

Oh mio mio mio

And like in every city, there is also an archaeological museum here, where artifacts from the time up to 3000 BC are exhibited.

Finally:

Okay, actually everything is just fake, the photos are from the internet and in reality we've been hanging out at Lake Chiemsee for over 3 months..

This is Bavaria!
