Hello dear ones!
Finally, the time has come, we have left the year behind and now Thailand is waiting for us :)
This time we have a different start than usual:
The journey begins with Mom and me, next week Kevin will join us, then my mom will leave and Kevin and I will continue traveling as usual :).
Our journey began yesterday, with a flight to Bangkok at 13:15. The flight seemed to drag on, as we flew in the middle of the day and didn't close our eyes for a minute. At midnight (Swiss time) we landed in Bangkok, changed planes and reached Krabi at 3 o'clock in the morning. As you can imagine, we were dog tired by now and in Thailand it was already 9 o'clock in the morning - that meant a night off for us.
Fortunately, everything went as planned, we had no complications or delays.
From Krabi airport, we went straight ahead: by taxi to the pier and then by 'long-tail-boat' to Railay Beach.
In the meantime, it was 11 o'clock in Thailand, 5 o'clock in Switzerland, and it was time for a 'arrival cocktail'. :)
So we decided to take a rest in a nice bar by the sea and ordered drinks.
Then it was about a 10 minute walk with the luggage to the hotel (of course I had to book the hotel that is furthest away :)) and check in.
Everything went smoothly here too, even though we were about two hours early.
Our accommodation is really cute! We have our own bungalow with a balcony, a hotel pool from which you can see the sea directly, and within minutes we are at the beach.
We unpacked everything, took a refreshing shower, and decided to go on a discovery tour to prevent falling asleep.
The 'peninsula' is really impressive and varied! Even though everything is very compact, you can keep yourself busy :)
First, we rushed to a tour desk and booked a guide for tomorrow to climb a wall for 4 hours. We are really looking forward to it!!!
Then we walked to the first climbing wall and watched the hustle and bustle for a while. We ended up at a beginner's wall, so the spectacle was over relatively quickly and we decided to move on.
We walked along a path and came to a steep wall with various cave passages. Of course, we couldn't just walk past it and had to explore everything immediately. What fun it was!!!!! We squeezed through really tight holes, crawled on the dirty ground through narrow openings, and ended up on the normal path again from time to time. There were a lot of people on this path and it was funny how some of them looked at us in astonishment! :)
There really was an official path through the cave, so we didn't do anything illegal or anything ;)
For us, it felt like 'being a child again' :).
After the cave entrances, we reached another, but beautiful beach! The whole environment really blew us away and the best part is: There are also climbing routes here - not for beginners.
We stayed there for a while and looked at the different routes and climbers.
Now our hunger caught up with us and we were really looking forward to some authentic Thai food. On the way back, we encountered a few monkeys, so we took another short break to observe them.
After that, we finally went to the restaurant. By now it was 4 o'clock here and we were satisfied with what we had seen on the first day. Mom treated herself to a portion of fried rice with vegetables and I had a Massaman curry. A delicious Thai iced tea and we could go back to the bungalow.
It is now 6:45 PM and we are happy to have made it this far :).
So, once again:
Thank you for reading, good night and see you in the mooooooorning :)
PS: I hope you don't mind if the pictures come tomorrow ;)
