My alarm went off around 6:51 am. So early, it had been a while. So get out of bed. Turn on the music and pack everything. I had everything I would need in my backpack in case it took longer. As German punctuality demanded, I was at the appointed place at 8 am sharp. I returned the car, briefly explained what the problem was, and went back into town.
I settled down in a bar and had breakfast. Around 9:15 am, I walked through the old town for the umpteenth time. But what can you do. I sat down on a rock and wrote a blog post. Around 11 am, I headed towards the workshop and that's when she called me. 20 minutes later, I was at the bus and saw what was broken. The return spring of the brake pads was broken, which is why they were grinding. 😕So I put in a new set of brake pads with a wheel brake cylinder and that was it. The parts will arrive tomorrow, he said, and then it will be done quickly. So I sat down in a cafe and looked for a place to sleep for tonight. I asked a few people on Couchsurfing, some replied that it was too spontaneous, and others didn't reply at all. My battery was almost empty, so I sat near an outlet and charged it. Meanwhile, I watched the Tour de Spain on a huge flatscreen. Later, I found an Airbnb and made a reservation.
15 minutes later, I stood at the door and waited for the landlord. He was cool and spoke very good English. However, the place wasn't really worth the 100€ per night. But I had Wi-Fi. Not bad either. I downloaded some music and a few movies on Netflix for bad weather. Then I FaceTimed with my family and I was really hungry. So I looked for a restaurant, found one, and sat down. The story would be too long if you want to know it, feel free to ask me privately. In any case, the restaurant was a real mess.
So I looked for a bar and sent Jan the location. He happened to be nearby eating and joined me a little later. We drank beers and got along well. We exchanged stories about our experiences so far and our future plans. 😁The evening went on and the bar closed around 11 pm. We walked through the old town towards the Airbnb. I closed the door a little too loudly and the floorboards creaked with every step. Oops. Quickly brushed my teeth and went to sleep😴
