Lloret de Mar, Blanes, Costa Brava

Birt: 06.07.2023

Next, we continue from Sant Feliu to Blanes.

By now, we have updated our Mediterranean map, making the journey much more enjoyable as I don't have to constantly switch between paper and the sea, coastal landmarks, and marked shallows.

Therefore, we navigate close to the shore and take a glimpse of small picturesque coves. Although it's Tuesday, there are already many small boats in the coves. There is no room for our Gustav to maneuver, so we decide not to anchor.

After a short drive, we reach the port of Blanes.

Before that, we pass by Lloret de Mar.

Along the steep cliffs, excursion boats keep coming towards us, entering the small coves and suddenly disappearing into the rocks. There are rocks in front of them, behind which narrow passages of 6 or 7 meters wide pass. The knowledgeable captains use these gaps to navigate their ships, amazing their passengers. One time, we saw a ship disappear into a cave.

Picturesque settlements on the cliffs, houses built right up to the edge of the rocks, nestled in a Mediterranean vegetation dominated by pine trees.

We are delighted with this successful crossing, it will remain in our fond memory, and I believe we will come back here again someday.

In the port of Blanes, we dock at the first catwalk, which is not far from the harbor master. We check-in, there is plenty of space, we secure the ship, and then we have to wait until the office reopens at 3:00 p.m.

After completing the formalities, we pack the empty backpack and set off to explore the city. Right opposite the harbor, there is a small supermarket (mom-and-pop store). Water and baguette are on the shopping list. Unexpectedly, a few bottles of Franziskaner Hefe Dunkel (dark wheat beer) have found their way here. We had to buy them, let's not talk about the price.

We also explored a small part of the old town, with narrow streets everywhere, bars, and of course, the restaurants are all full. The beach is also bustling. In a beachfront restaurant, you can get a half-pint for €2.95, which is surely a reason to take a little break.

In Masnou, we had previously reported our arrival for July 6th. So we had two overnight stays in Blanes.

We used the second day to visit the Jardí Botànic Marimurtra. To get there, we took a ride on the tourist train. The garden is a must-visit. We have already visited several gardens along the Mediterranean, and so far, the Jardí Botànic Marimurtra is the highlight of all.

We spent the evening at a restaurant in the harbor, quite literally filling our bellies. After some initial communication difficulties and unfortunately not all dishes on the menu were available, we spent a few lovely hours with good food in a relaxed atmosphere. The knowledge that we are nearing the end of the journey, the end of the trip momentarily faded into the background.

We highly recommend the restaurant. As a small tip, always order one course at a time, eat first, and then order more.

We recommend the restaurant; it stands out in every way from the beachfront eateries.
