Today we went to the legendary Fonte Nova for the first time, one of the stadiums where the World Cup games were also held. There we watched our first two football matches of the Olympic competition: First Germany played against Mexico (2:2), then South Korea played against Fiji (8:0).
The stadium looks very modern and actually doesn't fit into the whole environment of favelas and other old buildings from the 70s to 80s.
On the day of the match, it was raining heavily, but it didn't affect our mood for the games. They were actually very good and sometimes very atmospheric matches, although it must be said that the stadium was only half sold out. So we couldn't take our actual seats at the top of the stadium, as the entire upper tier was closed. So it was free seating for the evening!
