Hello,
arrived in Bangkok, we went directly to our hostel with the metro, but it was not as easy as it sounds with our backpacks in the crowded rush hour trains. After squeezing into the MRT, we soon arrived at our accommodation. After a short discussion, we decided to rent a scooter in Bangkok again, despite the heavy and chaotic traffic. This way, we could easily pass by all the sights and have an adventure just by driving. We felt that the red lights and no-entry signs were more like guidelines than regulations, at least for the scooter riders. After maneuvering through the traffic jam at a red light, the whole scooter crew stands ready on the pedestrian crossing to start. Often, the motorbike taxis still race off at a red light to arrive at the destination faster. You should also take good care of your helmet at high speeds; unfortunately, Julia's helmet blew off on the expressway, and she had to walk back to pick it up:P So we set off to explore Bangkok. We passed by many skyscrapers and the Bangkok skyline, which is adorned with many Buddhist temples. We visited both Wat Pho and Wat Arun, both of which are impressive temple complexes. In the evening, we went to the flower market, where many floral arrangements are sold as offerings in the temples. Afterwards, we had a delicious street food dinner in Chinatown with sesame balls in ginger soup for dessert and one last massage in Thailand. The next day, we visited Lumphini Park, which serves as a recreational area for the locals, and we were able to attend a festival of the Thai Red Cross there. In the pleasant coolness, we booked our onward flight to Cambodia and recovered from the scorching heat of the city. Then we went to the Sathorn Unique Tower, an abandoned skyscraper in the middle of the city. We were also able to sail across the river running through the city by boat and catch a glimpse of the temple complexes from there. In the evening, we went to the famous Khao San Road, but the music coming from all directions was a bit too loud for us. We have just arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, after our plane was delayed by 1.5 hours, and we will now look for a motorcycle with which we can travel to and through Vietnam.
See you later,
Malia
