Lazy Day at Canggu.

Birt: 30.01.2019

January 30, 2019

After a successful move to the new hostel, we gradually felt the aftermath of the previous day. The muscle soreness in our shoulders from paddling became noticeable. There were also the first bruises. And especially the hour in the blazing sun took its toll despite sunscreen. The logical consequence was - it had to be a lazy day.

That meant specifically for Lisa testing the new bed for a good two hours, and for me time by the pool with reading and writing - by the way, I have written a few of the older posts a little more detailed, if you're curious :)

Because we hadn't eaten anything until then, we went to the beach around 1 p.m. to get something to eat at one of the beach stalls and watch the surfers struggling in the heat while sitting in the shade. Today was the hottest day since our arrival. Standing barefoot in the sand - impossible.

Back at the hostel, we met Emily. She is from Oregon in the northwest of America, is currently working as an English teacher in the south of Vietnam for a year, and is now visiting Bali for a week on her vacation. Because her original date for later was cancelled, she spontaneously joined us for the evening.

We also gained a roommate. Josephine, 20 years young, is from Denmark and has been traveling with a 12-person travel group for the past 3.5 months - including in Fiji, New Zealand, and most recently in Australia. She is now spending her last two weeks on Bali on her own. We immediately invited her to join us.

And last but not least, our group was completed for today by an Englishwoman who joined us during happy hour at our pool bar. She has Indian roots, which is why I can't remember her name for the life of me, and she is staying in Bali for two weeks. The days before, she was in Ubud, which will probably be our next destination after Canggu.

We had a fun evening together - good conversations, exchanging experiences, a shared meal, and a few drinks :)
