Thanks to Finn, we started the day at 7 o'clock and were pretty much the first ones on the campsite. But the early bird catches the worm, so we started at 8:30 am from the campsite towards Potsdam after a nice walk by the lake. Today, one of our destinations was Sanssouci Palace. A bit slowed down by the traffic, we arrived in the scorching midday heat and visited several of the castles in the Sanssouci garden over the next few hours. There was a lot of art to admire and after 3 tours, our heads were filled with years and names of kings. Unfortunately, there was no entertainment for children and the clear difference compared to the Swedish mentality when it comes to conveying cultural facts was noticeable. Mom and Dad now also know where a large part of the tax money for culture in Germany goes. There are at least 4 people at pretty much every building to perform a ticket check or "guard" the art objects. Of course, slippers also had to be worn over the street shoes to protect the wooden floors in the buildings. The actual highlight, Sanssouci Palace, was rushed through with headphones every 5 minutes. Overall, a rather disappointing visit to a part of German history and culture. But you have to have been to certain places at least once in your life.
In the afternoon, we drove with our well-heated camper van to the nearby parking lot of Sacrow Palace. We also used the lake located here to cool down. We ended the evening at the Italian restaurant in the nearby garden area and were pleasantly surprised by the great pizza and pasta. For Finn, it was his first pizza, and it seemed quite tasty.
In the night, we had some animal visitors (most likely a raccoon), but apart from our garbage bag (which was outside thanks to a smelly diaper), there was nothing to take.
