What can you say: it's really beautiful here in the middle of Vietnam! You can easily spend a week or two in Da Nang and Hoi An is wonderful too. Unfortunately we only have 3 days... It's also bigger than we thought and really the city of 100,000 lights and lanterns. Lots of small bars and restaurants. Really good live music in the evening and 1099 different stands with sellers of all kinds of things... paper cards with 3D motifs, lanterns, of course souvenirs, peanuts, crepes, drinks, fruits, smoothies etc...
We have a really great home stay a bit outside but with free bikes and just spend both days on the beach, riding bikes 🚲 4 km through rice fields and over bridges to two different beaches. The Vietnamese are really business-minded and, in addition to great service, have developed good strategies for sales. For example, you get the loungers on the beach for free if you eat lunch in the restaurant… (Good prices and good food). Otherwise two loungers with an umbrella cost 100k, or 4 euros.
In the evening the city is simply beautiful and not so crowded anymore. Fortunately, Hoi An was not destroyed in the Vietnam War and so it has retained its old colonial style. The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are countless boats sailing on the river, Venice is nothing compared to this and everywhere it is colorful and there is live music playing. all the nations of the world are united here in a relaxed manner.
Fun fact: today on the beach we met a couple from Canada with whom we had already been on the boat in Ha Long Bay and two back packers from Tam Coc. The joy was great... the world is so small! We also met nice men from India who were there for 4 days of business and 3 days of vacation. Simply incredibly beautiful 🤩
