Wien 2/3

Birt: 13.07.2023

Servus, Grias ench, Hello,

2 out of 3 full days in Vienna are already over. Today we are going on a day trip to Bratislava. Luckily, the weather is a bit more bearable after a night shower.

The first few days can be summed up briefly: Many steps, a lot of sweat, and many impressions.

After a drive from Weibern to Vienna, which once again showed me that some people probably received their driver's license as a gift, we ventured into the city center of Vienna first. Here we discovered an old familiar face upon closer inspection:

After walking through the city center for a while, we met up with a good friend Andi for bouldering.

At what felt like 36 degrees Celsius, it was a truly outstanding idea - okay, maybe just an idea, but what wouldn't one do to get rid of that tingling sensation in the fingers.

After that, we went to our current host - Lady Linda. (Official landowner of a single square meter in Scotland) Despite difficult circumstances in a stressful week, she has the kindness to provide us with a roof over our heads. Truly ladylike. 😉

Yesterday we got up early and went to see the attractions of Vienna. Since this was not my first visit to Vienna, I already knew some things, but as is always said, repetition is the mother of retention. I think I've expanded it to 3 or 4 times.

Our tour started at the central cemetery, where, among others, Falco, Beethoven, Brahms, and other musicians/composers have found their final resting place. However, I was particularly impressed by the graves in service of science (honorary grave of the Center for Anatomy and Cell Biology), which are dedicated to those who donate their bodies to science and teaching after their death.

A visit to the cemetery personally grounds me and reminds me that life is not a given.

Since all kinds of love are part of life, I also want to share with you a beautiful artistic design that can be found in Vienna in many places and in various forms.

After the cemetery, we continued through the city center, always in the shade of trees and buildings:

After about 20,000 steps, we finally didn't feel like walking any further and met up with Andi for a beer.

Now we are sitting on the train and heading to Bratislava. Hopefully, the clouds will stay with us.

Off to Bratislava.

Wish us shade and feel hugged.

PS: Uncle's cap is with us and, together with sunscreen, prevents my face from taking on the color of my shirt. 😉
