Yay, we can sleep in today. The kids don't wake up until 7:15 am. Michi takes a morning stroll on the beach. We have breakfast and make a detour to the aluminum can crusher. It's a hit for Sami and Maxi at every campground in Cape Range.
Today, it's time to say goodbye to Cape Range National Park. The kids are looking forward to more comfort - namely a pool - and Michi has seen enough too. But saying goodbye is hard for me. I would have liked to stay longer. The 5 days here were simply amazing - especially snorkeling at the Drift Loop of Turquoise Bay.
As a farewell gift, I negotiated a snorkeling tour there. The beach at Turquoise Bay is already quite crowded. Today, for the first time in a long time, it's cloudy, but still windless. Michi is the first one in the water. He quickly comes back and says that you can't see as much in the morning as in the evening. Then it's my turn again. I swim out further today and the reef out there is even more colorful than near the shore. I stay in the water for quite a while and see many fish and as a farewell gift, a turtle.
On the way to Exmouth, we make a detour to the lighthouse. From up here, you have a great view! We can see whales in the distance. In Exmouth, we replenish our supplies, refuel, and the kids have another round of fun at the water playground. Then in the afternoon, we continue towards Coral Bay, our destination for today.
We're making good progress and arrive at the Bayview Campground in Coral Bay at 4:30 pm. Samuel can't wait to jump into the pool. After swimming, we go to the beach to watch the sunset. Today, there is a beautiful cloud formation. Then it's time to cook. Tonight, we're having steak with pasta.
Our Australia trip is coming to an end. It's unbelievable, today we're already halfway through. The last 4.5 weeks have flown by! Just like the last 11 months since Elijah's birth on November 13, 2017.
