Tag 42 Georgia - the big clean-up day

Birt: 03.08.2022

Today was dedicated to preparations for the journey back home. First, we had to go through the contents of the van and decide what we want to take back with us on the plane. It's amazing what I have accumulated over the past few weeks.

All the tools and spare parts were packed into our suitcases and bags, weighed, repacked, and weighed again. After so many hours, we were finally ready to go. Each suitcase and bag can still be closed, and none of the luggage exceeds the allowed weight according to the specially purchased luggage scale.

Of course, not everything can be taken back home. Some things have to stay behind because of their size or weight. Luckily, our hosts Tamara and Georgi are very nice and were grateful for the things I gave them. So, the cooler box and fire extinguisher from Fnark in S. in D., Kay's large RFT box, the auxiliary battery, Horst's water canister, Roy's bike, our old climbing rope and a few tie-down straps, my remaining tools, the leftover motor oil, the first aid kit, the good old East German warning triangle, and many other useful things have found new owners here. Just because we no longer need them, doesn't mean they are no good. Even my five spare tires (yes, I know, I didn't expect not to have a single flat tire on these terrible roads) will find their use on the Wolga M24 of a friend of Georgi.

And then we stopped by the public container to dispose of all the things that no one will probably ever need again.

Afterwards, I filled up with 10 liters of diesel, filled the reserve canister and the emergency transfer leftover bottle into the tank, and prepared the car for departure tomorrow. Well, that's another seven kilometers just for refueling and the container.

After some paperwork, it was time for dinner.

We went to Papavero in the city center of Kutaisi. This restaurant has a beautiful garden and delicious food. And the best thing about this restaurant was the service. So friendly and attentive, simply amazing, the best service of the entire trip through Armenia and Georgia.
