Lonely Island

The weather is fantastic. Because this is more the rule than the exception here, you quickly get used to it. On days like today, I once again realized how wonderful it is to be spoiled by the sun all day long.

Perfect then to set sail today. The expedition ride starts around noon, out to sea, along the rocky coast and to the lonely, neighboring island.

Before we dropped our imaginary anchor and went ashore on the island, we circled it once.

Wild and untouched, nature reigns over the island. Behind the sometimes steep cliffs, the caves and many crazy rock formations, a variety of plants thrive.

There was an easy spot to dock and from there a densely overgrown path led up to the island. From afar, you could already see an old stone building, which gives the island a special charm and piqued our curiosity.

To get to the top, our climbing skills were briefly called upon today as well. How exciting.

Apart from the old brick building, there wasn't really anything to discover. Everything around was too overgrown to walk around.

Judging by the paintings and other symbolic-religious objects, the little house was probably a small church or chapel. Not exactly a big discovery, but the island still gave us a slight Robinson Crusoe feeling.

With the curiosity and exploration of a Christopher Columbus, we sailed further along the coast. The rocks here are already super special and fascinating. In between, there are small hidden bays. And the water... So blue and clear. Unbelievable.

During a break, we came across a cave. A really exciting cave that you could enter and that was also open on the other side. Unfortunately, we didn't have a geologist on board who could have explained to us what crazy rock variations we had discovered.

The research trip was successful.

Cliff jumping was also a highlight of the paddle tour.

In the evening, we went up to the village again. Saturday evening, nice atmosphere.

Tomorrow we'll head to Leonidio.

A popular place on the east coast of the Peloponnese. Known especially as a climbing area.
