After the hustle and bustle of the big city, we longed for some balance. So we chartered the first rickety boat we could find, which turned out to be a premium hemorrhoid swing in hindsight, and had ourselves chauffeured to Sokcho on the other side of the country. Thanks to the fantastic and tourist-friendly signage, we walked through most of the city until we finally found a suitable means of transportation. For the next 3 nights, we settled into a traditionally inspired self-catering hotel on the edge of the national park. From the first rays of sunlight, we let ourselves be guided deeper into the forest-covered mountains. We easily mastered even the expert routes and ventured to the most remote places that may have never been seen by a human before us. When the fireball extinguished, we returned to our sleeping quarters, where we immediately began preparing the evening meal. Once our bellies were full and our thirst quenched, we let ourselves be lulled to sleep by the biting mountain winds.
