With the trailer to Slovenia

Birt: 02.04.2021

We struggled with whether to travel during Corona or stay at home for a long time. After the incidence rates in Slovenia and Austria went down, we decided to travel to Slovenia. Our first stop was planned in Mittenwald, as we wanted to visit our son there and this area is simply breathtakingly beautiful. We also found a parking space at Isarhorn. https://www.camping-isarhorn.de/

From here we had an exciting drive to Neukirchen am Großvenediger (via Seefeld with a 16% gradient - I was sweating a lot). At Gasthof Friedburg we found a beautiful parking space. https://www.gasthof-friedburg.at/ By the way, they also have great cuisine here!

From here we made trips to the Krimml Waterfalls, the Wildkogel, and many other destinations.

After a few wonderful days, we wanted to go to our meeting point with Angelika and Stefan in the Soca Valley. The destination was Kamp Soca. The path led us through Italy and then along the Isonzo Front to the wild Soca Valley. Our days there were characterized by hikes, bike tours, and also a trip to the Slovenian Adriatic.

The Soca Valley

This area is a dream for fly fishermen, whitewater paddlers, and mountain hikers. The icing on the cake of this river was the jump from the rock into the icy water and then trying to get back to the shore from the current. This idyllic area will certainly be our destination again.

A leap into the depths - simply cool

After a week of pure relaxation, we headed towards Vienna, as our Geli had to go home at short notice, but that was also a puzzle piece of our great vacation.

Pillichsdorf near Vienna was the next destination. Nobody knows it, but it has a parking space at the tennis house, electricity, water, and, most importantly for the area, good wine! We arrived, parked our motorhomes, and then headed into the village. Several signs with heurigen events filled us with joyful anticipation as we walked through the village. However, it was so deserted that only the dry bushes were missing, driven through the village by the wind. After a while, we passed a cellar house in an alley, and that's where we knew where the village was hiding - in the winemaker's garden at the heuriger. The evening was saved and we enjoyed ourselves.

The next day we went to Vienna for a tour with the fiaker through the city center.

Unfortunately, the end of our vacation was in sight, so we continued after 3 days. The next destination was Camping Kapfelberg, a bit special, but beautifully located.

On the way home, we planned one last overnight stay in Homburg am Main, as we absolutely had to visit the Weinhaus zum Ritter again. www.weinhaus-ritter.de This place is often a conclusion of our vacation for us, as we love the cuisine of Thomas Hausin and we always look forward to seeing Heike and Thomas again. Geli and Stefan also enjoyed this evening at the Ritter.

The next day, a beautiful vacation came to an end and we all drove home with our motorhomes.

See you soon
