Day 4 - Flamingos & Snorkeling at Kokomo Beach

Day 4 (9.8.23)

Again the thermometer climbs above the 30 degree mark in the morning, which is why we treat ourselves to a quiet morning by the pool and want to explore other beaches in the surrounding area after lunch. At the top of the priority list is Playa Kokomo. On the way there, we stop at the Flamingo Habitat and actually meet lots of flamingos here, from light pink to pink to dark pink. Very cool!

At Kokomo Beach there is a bar, a large restaurant and a jetty next to which there are 2 water swings in the water. You won’t find a real “beach” here. The best way to enter the sea is via stairs on the jetty; from the beach it is very stony and rocky. There are loungers at the front of the ocean, covered cabanas, and loungers between the bar and restaurant under a huge tree. We take the loungers under the tree, save the parasol. Actually, there is a charge for the loungers, but we're here after 3 p.m. so nobody seems to want to cash in anymore - we think it's great 😉

Snorkeling is great here! My favorite place is to the left of the jetty, where you can quickly find yourself in the coral garden with all kinds of fish, including highlights such as lionfish and flounder. The corals are also amazing. Intact soft corals in all colors, huge fan corals and lots of colorful fish! Great! And all of this in relatively shallow water right next to the jetty. What more do you want?

The highlight of Sohnemann is the swimming platform from which you can jump into the sea. Since the sea here is so crystal clear and blue, you have the feeling of swimming in a huge swimming pool. We are totally thrilled!

Shortly before sunset the beach becomes empty and we move to the cabanas, which are now all free, and enjoy the sunset.

After that, however, you have to be quick, because security clears the beach immediately after sunset and “sweeps” all the tourists out.

Nice thing about Kokomo Beach: there are showers (a small fee is charged, but very few people put a coin on the plate next to the shower) and free toilets.

At 7 p.m. we leave Kokomo Beach and drive to the villa. Tonight we're having burgers - we have a big grill on the terrace. Pure holiday feeling 😊
