Nelson (3 Days)

Birt: 03.12.2018

Arriving in Nelson, we went to the information center, grabbed some flyers, and then went to our accommodation right in the city center! After that, we went shopping, unfortunately not at our favorite supermarket, but at another supermarket, but we still found everything we needed. In the evening, we cooked pasta and went to bed. The next day, we went to a market in the morning, where Noah first had a sausage (at a German immigrant's stand), and then we explored Nelson with a walk that took us along the harbor and through the city (oldest well-preserved street/Queens Garden...). In the Christ Church, there was a Christmas tree exhibition, very beautiful! In general, there is hardly any Christmas decoration here, except one house was completely filled with it. In the evening, we wrote postcards and took an evening walk after cooking a rice dish. The next morning, we watched the Santa Parade on our street, comparable to a carnival parade, only with elves and Santa Clauses. The fun ended around 12:30 pm and we drove to Abel Tasman National Park, where we hiked for 3 hours and finished with a swim before starting the one-hour journey back by car. In the evening, we made our own pizza, well, only topping it ourselves... And just like that, our time in Nelson was over, so the next morning we loaded our 'Yeti' and started towards Greymouth after having breakfast. On the way, we stopped at Tauranga Bay, the 26km detour was more than worth it, and at the Pancake Rocks. Impressive rocks with a great history! We took State Highway 6, which is one of New Zealand's most spectacular coastal roads. Along the way, we had almost constant views of the lonely coast and the restless ocean, very impressive, and we wanted to stop over and over again. Upon arriving in Greymouth, we simply went to our accommodation and went shopping. Initially, we had saved pancakes for today, but then we decided to have pasta instead. Now we are planning the next few days, let's see...
