Day 13, from Dihovo to Bitola
Since I only wanted to start hiking at 8:30 this morning and the path to Bitola was only 14 km long, there was still a good breakfast with various delicious spreads and goat cheese. During the hike today, I only found blackberries and sloes. I don't know if I have ever seen a fig tree in Macedonia. I walked through meadows and small forests and 2 villages. Ultimately, I reached the provincial capital Bitola shortly before noon. Here I am waiting for my cousin Willi, who is supposed to arrive tomorrow, Friday at 10:16 a.m. by train from Austria. I'm curious to see when he actually arrives! So far, it has been relatively easy to hike because I had predetermined routes and villages for the Via Egnatia Trail, so it was relatively clear where I would find accommodation and dinner. From now on, things will be very different. I do have a map that shows many villages, but according to my landlady, many of them are abandoned villages. That would mean: no charging options for my phone and navigation device, no fixed accommodation, and no food available locally. Now I'll wait until my cousin arrives to find a way together!
