What we are looking for and (sometimes) find there.
It starts with setting up the tent.
The toilet paper is missing in the washroom and the line for morning bread just doesn't move.
Camping is annoying. π
Why do we still love it?
A whole year has passed since I set up the tent. How was it again?
And then this chaos in the first few days. You feel like you can't find anything.
Then I wake up in the middle of the night and lie on the bare ground. The mattress also needs to get used to me again. π«
The way to the toilet, sometimes even in the middle of the night, becomes a real night hike.π¦
In the worst case, the tents are close together and you hear entire forests being cleared by snoring.π²π³
The children play wild between the tents until the restricted zone, and when the DJ plays in the barn, it's best to join in and celebrate. πBecause going to sleep would be pointless.
Also, when camping, you have to drink even if you're not thirsty. π
And when the next morning you stumble out of the tent with a hangover, you should definitely not be vain or feel ashamed.
The morning crumpled faceπ΅βπ« is just as much a part of the camping "How is How" as the fashionable floppy look with crumpled sweatpants and socks in sandals or flip-flops.π©΄
And yet it's the whole package. Camping ποΈ by the sea tastes salty to me and comes in waves.π
You are right in the middle of life and find it most beautiful when you almost have to leave. You even become nostalgic when the snoring neighbor breaks camp.π¬
Here, the genders are still divided into gatherers and hunters without anyone complaining. Although I mainly saw men washing dishes recently.
Well, there's nothing wrong with that.π
Sitting in front of the tent in the evening, provided you haven't packed the whole household, is something incredibly timeless. You chat, play games, maybe just watch the candlelight or, when the sky is clear, the stars. πYou can even sing loudly without anyone wondering. But by the end of the week, you'll be exposed and should leave.
Every now and then, it helps immensely to romanticize things a bit so that you can repeat them next year.
Maybe you just don't want to allow yourself to follow the prescribed path of aging. An important prerequisite for camping is definitely an unconditional love for nature. And by that, I mean mosquitoes and seagulls. π§π(once again, no emoji for that)
These creatures can really throw you off balance. But everything usually ends well. And so, in me, serenity usually prevails. We can also call it laziness at this point.
Lucky me.ππ
