The perfect day...

Naipablaak: 05.12.2018

... was today.

If someone were to ask me how I imagine my perfect day, I would probably say: just like today!

We got up quite early today and went straight to the scooter rental. Here in Thailand, it's no big deal, you put 200 baht on the table, which is about 5€, and you get a scooter for the whole day.

Then we set off on our mission to the turtle farm - the Thai military has set up a nice station right by the sea where sick and injured turtles are cared for and young turtles are prepared for life in the open sea. A great initiative and it seems like it's taken seriously and well managed.

On our way there, we found an elephant camp where we stopped. We were there very early and therefore the only ones there, we were able to feed and pet the elephants in peace. The owner told us that our "Jumbo" is already 45 years old and eats nearly 200kg of food per day, so our 7 bananas and pineapples were just a small snack. It was simply amazing to see and touch my favorite animals like this in their "natural" environment.

From there, we continued towards a waterfall: Tong Chong Fa. The journey along the forest roads on the scooter was already adventurous, at some point we had to continue on foot, about 2km uphill. It can be quite sweaty at 36 degrees and 88% humidity. But the effort was worth it, there were few people around and we were able to swim in the waterfall basin. Not suitable for people who are ticklish, the little fish are these "spa fish" that you know from the small foot baths in all holiday resorts and they nibble quite a lot :-D

On the way back, we decided on our next destination, and probably the most beautiful one of this trip - Coconut Beach. Unknown and much more extensive than the big, well-known beaches, and the most beautiful thing I have ever seen on all my/our trips. Turquoise blue, crystal clear water, white sand, and palm trees as far as the eye can see, with only the occasional other tourist. We walked along the beach for a long time and ended the great walk at the beach bar.

Tomorrow morning we will continue to Phuket, and from there we will fly back to Bangkok.

We will get in touch again once we have arrived :-)

Until then,

Lindi and Dennis
