Early in the morning at 5 o'clock, Alex and I got up, packed, made sandwiches and woke the children. 45 minutes later we left Queenstown and drove along an arm of Lake Wakatipu and past the Remarkables towards Te Anau. Once again there were about 100,000 sheep and the weather was getting nicer. We were able to watch a Kea in a tree and drove through the adventurous tunnel to Milford Sound. The parking lot was still almost empty and very cool in the shade! So we sat in the information office and had a coffee and recovered from the parking prices... After that we walked to the ship's pier and soon boarded the Sindbad. The tour through the 13km long fjord was great. Alex and Noor of course stood at the front of the boat when we drove close to the waterfall. The water is supposed to make you beautiful (Matti and I don't need that!)... After the boat trip we went back to Te Anau with several photo stops, where we were warmly welcomed. We were pretty tired, but the restaurants were very busy. Luckily, after a short wait, we were able to get a table! Truly a beautiful outing on a Christmas day!
