In Zion National Park

Naipablaak: 01.11.2018

On Tuesday, it was time for Zion National Park. Since we stayed so close to the park entrance, we were there early and it was still very cold.

In Zion, you have to park your car at the entrance and then take the free shuttle buses, because in the summer there are so many visitors that the traffic is simply unbearable.

First, we wanted to hike the Angels Landing Trail. However, we only made it to Scout Lookout because I got too scared. The rest of the path was steep along the cliffs, with a chain to hold on to and people coming back because they had already reached the end. We still had a fantastic view because we climbed about 400 meters in altitude. We were back at the starting point after 3 hours.

After that, we took a shorter path to a small waterfall. The rest of the path was closed off because a huge rockfall had destroyed it.

The waterfall was our last stop in Zion, and then we headed towards Page. On the way, we also visited the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, a fascinating rock landscape.

Just before our destination, we left Utah and entered Arizona, the 8th state on our journey.

Here, we also had to change our clocks again. Although Arizona, like Utah, is in the Mountain Time Zone, there is no daylight saving time here. That's why we now have the same time as in California again.

At Lake Powell, we were able to see the dam and the bridge over Glen Canyon. Our hotel room also had a good view of the canyon and the bridge.
