Day 5: Ilfracombe - Woolacombe/Croyde

Naipablaak: 18.09.2018

Unfortunately, today is already the second half of our tour... :-((((

When we started at 10:30 am after our obligatory Pasti purchase, it was unfortunately gray, windy, and the sea was very rough. Passing the Tunnel Beaches, the end of the hike on the north coast could be seen in the distance (Bull Point). Suddenly, we were in the middle of a herd of cows, but they were not very interested in us. After Lee, a small settlement, there were 2 more valleys ahead of us until we reached Bull Point. Arriving there, we switched from the north coast (Bristol Channel) to the west coast (Irish Sea). Maybe it was the strong wind yesterday, but it was more than noticeable. The sea was also much rougher. We continued to Morte Point, a small headland. The sky cleared more and more and the sun came out just before Morte Point. At the top of Morte Point, it was so windy that it was difficult to breathe. ;-) Mega. The view of the bay with the long sandy beach of Woolacombe matched the sun so perfectly. The approaching waves were gigantic. It's no wonder that surfers are at home here on the west coast. From Mortenhoe, the view of Morten Point was actually comparable to a dinosaur's back. After 5 1/2 hours arrived in Woolacombe, we fortified ourselves first. I hitchhiked and took a bus to Croyde, while Tina walked another 3 hours.
