Malaysia Kuala Lumpur! No.1

Naipablaak: 30.10.2016

Friday the 7th of October 201, the day everything began.

From Berlin, my flight went to Kuala Lumpur, the capital and gateway to Malaysia. The flight was quite uneventful and I slept most of the time. For Kuala Lumpur, I chose the party hostel Reggae Mansion and a bed in a 24-bed dorm to meet many people right from the start.

On the rooftop bar of my hostel, I met two Vietnamese who couldn't believe that I'm from Germany because they always thought that only fat people live in Germany.... After I informed them that they probably confuse Germany with America or England, we went to Chinatown for a midnight snack and tried some food there (for me, of course, only vegetables;-) )

On the second day, I strolled around the city and explored Kuala Lumpur... Kuala Lumpur is really huge and some alleys are totally overwhelming, there are huge speakers on the street playing advertisements and I felt a bit like standing in front of a ride at a fair. Eventually, I arrived at the Petronas Twin Towers and had to let them work on me. The towers are really very high and impressive but I don't think they are beautiful :D

Back at the hostel, I met another backpacker with whom I visited the Batu Caves the next day, the temple and everything around it was surrounded by a large structure, which didn't look nice of course, so I only took photos of the monkeys and not of the temple itself... :) They were very amusing and you can watch them for hours. After the long and exhausting day trip, we went to the rooftop bar to celebrate a bit. It was karaoke day and everyone had to sing songs in their own language. Germany was represented with the song "Fliegerlied" which everyone sang along with, even those who didn't know or understand the lyrics, so you couldn't hear anything from my "singing" which made me very happy.

Although there are many tourists here, as a white person, you get stared at quite often, some people (mostly Chinese) just took pictures of me without asking and then simply walked away...

Those were my first days in Kuala Lumpur, after that, I continued to the Cameron Highlands with a proper hangover...
