The smokehouse was located across from our motel. However, despite it being a Saturday evening, there was hardly anyone around.
Steffi ordered a Beef Brisket Sandwich. I originally wanted to order a 3-meat combo with Pulled Turkey, Brisket, and Sausage, but they were out of sausage and unfortunately, despite asking, there was no option for a different combination. In the end, I ordered half a pound of Brisket with Beans and Cole Slaw.
The food was served quickly. The BBQ sauce they offered was vinegar-based. The Brisket was served Texas-style, seasoned only with salt and black pepper. It was smoked with a local oak variety. According to the staff, the pitmaster learned his craft in Texas. It tasted quite delicious. The beans were okay, though they were cooked without the burned ends from the Brisket. The slaw was okay, but it was lacking that extra kick. Steffi was very satisfied with her sandwich. However, the ambiance could definitely be improved. Price-wise, it was absolutely fine.
If you're in Lone Pine, it's worth paying a visit to the smokehouse.
