The last days

Naipablaak: 14.05.2018

Now the last week has started, I will spend only 2 more days on the farm here.

On Wednesday we will drive to Trondheim together to Jøern, Elisabeth's partner, and stay there until Friday.

I am looking forward to meeting the rest of her family, the two sons.

On Wednesday we will celebrate Jørn's birthday together and on Thursday the national holiday in Norway.

On this occasion, there is a large parade in Trondheim every year that we will watch. Norwegians like to celebrate the national holiday in their traditional costumes with the family and traditional food.

In the short time I have already grown to love the Norwegians and their positive attitude so much.

I hope I can take some of their balance and learn contentment.

The Norwegians I have met here are content with what they have and appreciate it. This quality makes everyday life so much more carefree and life more pleasant.

Often we forget to appreciate what we have and to be satisfied. We tend to focus more on what we don't have and unnecessarily stress ourselves.

In the two weeks I have met friends and neighbors, and each of them radiates so much positivity. They are so warm and open in dealing with each other.

During joint TV evenings, there is always an "interpreter" in the group who translates for me in English what is currently going on or who the person on TV is. Conversations within the group are also held in English so that I can participate. If Norwegian is spoken in between, I listen and try to understand. If I can't do that, the "interpreter" comes into play again.

The same is true for their animals, respectful and stress-free.

I have not seen any pressure, stress, or even violence in dealing with the animals here, regardless of whether it is a dog, cat, horse, chicken, or llama.

This is also evident in the nature of the animals, they are equally balanced and familiar with humans.

I will continue to enjoy the last week because on Friday I will make my way to Sweden. I am already looking forward to the new impressions, the people, and the adventures that await me on the farm there, but still, saying goodbye here will not be easy for me. From the beginning, I felt like a part of the family; even homesickness had little chance then.
