The morning was uneventful. Günther had to work (somehow the trip has to be paid for:)) and Thorsten focused on the days we'll be spending in Waikiki on Oahu starting tomorrow. There were a few small optimization changes to make. Additionally, when looking closer and planning various points of interest in Waikiki, there are 'pitfalls' to be aware of that can leave one feeling incredulous. They show that one must prepare EXTREMELY well to experience what one wants to experience. Although Thorsten is already a perfect planner, there are always things one might not have known that require adjustments to the plans. So we each passed the time until noon with our tasks.
At 'High Noon,' we made our way to the nearby beach. The path there took us past a few streets lined with mostly very nice houses. Generally, it's nice to live there, but on the other hand, it's a bit too far from normal life. Everything must absolutely be done by car to overcome the distance to the nearest 'civilization.' The residential area was not small, but we did not discover any infrastructure.
The beach, which - unsurprisingly - consists of black sand, did not have a direct 'accessible' entrance. To overcome the elevation difference from the road to the beach, a bit of climbing over lava rocks was necessary to reach the small but nice beach.
What was offered to us there was simply indescribable: A blue to turquoise sea, crashing in large and heavy waves onto the shore, creating a beautiful scene against the rocks that stood in the sea before the beach or the coastal cliffs, resulting in high water fountains with lots of spray. Alongside this, the lush vegetation with many palm trees and other plants. Just an unforgettable sight.
So we spent several hours simply 'busy' with the wonderful view of the vast ocean before us, sometimes looking at each other in disbelief and saying: Hey, we are at the beach in Hawaii – how awesome is that?
To swim in the sea, the waves were too high for us, so we just waded in... and enjoyed the view of the ocean.
