1. Day

Naipablaak: 08.02.2022

Monday, 8.2 at 8 o'clock I started driving from Nördlingen towards France. Closed snow cover in Neresheim, past my home golf course Hochstatt. After almost 300 km, crossed the Rhine at Offenbach, and suddenly nice weather. A few km behind the border to the golf course Kempferhof. It is one of the top 10 in France.

And of course, I went shopping at Super U before. It's like our Rewe, really fancy. The Bordeaux wine section alone is as big as the total liquor department at Handelshof. 4 beautiful bottles and 3 different cheeses plus pate for 50 euros. Oops. Okay, a baguette was also included.

Played with 2 older Frenchmen. The Alsatians all speak German, but I learned a lot of French swear words from them. People are all the same. Unfortunately, the associated restaurant, where I always eat tartare with truffled mashed potatoes, was closed. Damn, closed.

The only store within a 10 km radius that is open here in the boonies on Tuesday is an Italian. But who wants to drive there. So I'm sitting on the bus, (got half a French fighting rooster at Super U) and later there will be cheese, olala.

The greenkeepers gave me electricity, which is great, so everything is easy with the refrigerator, lights, charging my phone and laptop, and especially the auxiliary heating. It runs on diesel, but still needs electricity. When I was here in December, I was without electricity, and on the second night, the auxiliary heating failed. I also had the refrigerator on the whole time. But you really need it, because it's cozy and warm in my cabin, and a white Chablis wants to be nicely chilled. The outside temperature is currently at 6 degrees and you can only hear the diesel pump very quietly and reassuringly, it does a damn good job.

As always, I'm trying not to smoke in the bus, but as always, later it doesn't work anymore. The Rallafornia purrs like a kitten, if it starts. Just before the supermarket, I probably tried to start it 10 times in vain.

So, now I'm going to unpack the cheese and maybe watch a bit of TV, because tomorrow is supposed to be the big moving day. The goal would be somewhere around Riom. But probably on the highway, Gerd said he supports it monetarily.

Bonne nuit les amis.
