Long Beach simple House

Naipablaak: 10.01.2024

The harbor on Koh Lanta is quite loud and full of people. We came here assuming that Koh Lanta would be a very quiet island. That didn't fit our ideas at all. But after the taxi ride in a truck-like vehicle that took us to our accommodation, things became quieter.

“Why does he drive the way he drives?”

The taxi driver didn't know our accommodation and had to ask around first. Other fellow travelers laughed at us because our accommodation looked “very simple” from the outside. The first impression was confirmed from the inside, but everything was clean and completely to our satisfaction. The hostess is very friendly and sweet and invited us to a restaurant where she works in the kitchen. She also talked about her laundry service, which we will definitely use!

Hunger. As always... Wow, it was the tastiest meal of our trip to Thailand so far! We took our digestive nap today on the beach, Long Beach. In a very relaxed atmosphere, with a few quiet other people, we enjoyed the incredibly beautiful sunset. We followed the sun until it sank behind the sea. Everything seemed totally peaceful and we were immediately taken by the mood.

We went back to the accommodation and Nina counted her 26 mosquito bites. Despite spray. Good thing we brought a burn pen (thanks, Angela!). What we observe is that the pen burns longer on some stitches than on others. We ask ourselves whether more poison or malaria will be burned. What do you all mean?

Our dinner was a bit forced dietetic. We didn't know that the BBQ restaurant only offers us meat dishes. And we didn't want to get up again because we were welcomed so warmly. So our choice fell on side dishes. A baked potato for each and a portion of fries, which we shared.

The crowning conclusion to this beautiful and relaxing day was a beach bar where we stopped. We sipped our delicious drinks in a cozy atmosphere, chilled music from a DJ, beautiful lights and pillows on the floor. Everyone could do whatever they wanted. Everyone was barefoot, 2 were dancing, some were improving their slagline skills, others were smoking a joint and chatting. Everything was okay, everything was good. The clocks really tick slower here.

Insight of the day: we are doing really well. We are grateful and happy to be here. Yesterday's conversation with the soldiers gave us food for thought: How nice is it that we don't have to fight for survival?! The only battles we fight are within ourselves, between the good voice and the evil voice. Somehow this makes us feel more peaceful and grateful.

We hope that we can take this atmosphere that we are currently experiencing here with us as we continue our journey and back home. The next few days will certainly be quieter and we are really looking forward to it and also to not having a plan!

We're going to sleep now happy and a little hungry.

Until tomorrow
