Bagà, on the way to Andorra

Naipablaak: 07.07.2024

We have now been at sea for almost 9 weeks and are back in our port in el Masnou. Before we left, a few things were important, first and foremost, how is Gustav.

So we made an appointment with the shipyard to see what the sacrificial anodes looked like, what was the condition of the antifouling, what was the oil level in the Z-drives, was there any visible damage to the hull? Monday was a public holiday in Spain, so we made an appointment for the following week, which was then postponed again.

We had scheduled our departure from el Masnou for around July 10th, so it made sense to do something in the remaining days.

We had left our car at the port and were therefore able to expand our excursions somewhat. Andorra was also a worthwhile destination among the excursions available from Barcelona.

The temperatures rose to almost 30° after we arrived, so why not drive to the mountains for a day and spend the day there in pleasant temperatures. We were also able to take some luggage with us just in case, so we could have stayed overnight.

We started early in the morning, packed our cooler bag, bought bread from the local bakery and off we went on our journey to the land of milk and honey. We had breakfast at a rest stop along the way.

Our first destination was Bagà. Bagà is a relatively original mountain village. It used to be mainly agricultural and was the center for supplying the villages and farms in the mountains above. Since the 18th century there have been various textile factories. Today the village lives mainly from tourism and is the starting point for long hikes in the mountains. Winter tourism has also become important. The village has retained its original character and we definitely recommend a visit.

Even out of season, we found the place in late winter sleep, and the streets were mostly populated by locals who had driven there from the surrounding area to shop and also visited the occasional café. A few hiking groups also lined the path.
