Saint Louis part two

Naipablaak: 27.03.2018

After an exciting Saturday night, we had a more or less restful night in St. Louis. By 9:45 in the morning, most of us were already at the Starbucks in the hotel for breakfast. After that, it was time to head out into the cold, as we wanted to be at the 'Busch Stadium' by 10:30, which was not far from the hotel. For an hour, we were guided through the baseball stadium and gained exciting impressions, even behind the scenes. The 'Busch Stadium' is the home of the 'Cardinals', the baseball team of St. Louis. There are almost 46,000 seats for the fans and the stands are often full. No wonder, because the eleven-time world champions have a huge and especially loyal fan community. This was particularly evident afterwards in the Cardinals' fan shop, where you could buy clothes, keychains, flags, and even baby pacifiers in the colors and patterns of the Cardinals.

For lunch, we ate in a very American way: fast food. In a kind of 'baseball restaurant', we were able to watch an away game of the St. Louis baseball team live while eating.

The highlight of the day awaited us in the early afternoon. Together with our American friends, we went up high to the 'Gateway Arch', 192 meters up, from where we had a fabulous view of the city. The Arch can be compared to our cathedral in Magdeburg, it is the landmark of the city. The special thing about it was that St. Louis is located just behind the border between Illinois and Missouri, so you could see both states from above at the same time.

After a relatively short time, we were back on solid ground and started the journey back to the already familiar Nokomis. Each of us then spent the evening with their host family before going back to school the next day.
