For Saturday, January 19th, I actually had planned to spend the day sightseeing and visiting the lagoon....I went to the lagoon in the morning... But then the plan changed very spontaneously during lunch. I met a German woman who told me that Phil Collins was giving a concert in the stadium directly across the street that evening. And she had spontaneously bought a ticket the day before.
So I was excited about the idea of going to the concert too. I looked on the internet and there were still tickets available. They may have had a very bad view, but I didn't care. I bought the ticket for about 65 euros and it was delivered to me via SMS... a link to my ticket. Totally uncomplicated! And then I didn't have much time left, I took a shower, got ready, quickly had something to eat, and then I was off. The whole city was a bit chaotic. Streets were closed and large crowds of people were heading to the stadium. Once I was inside, I looked for my seat.... It was actually pretty bad! Right across from the stage. The stadium wasn't that big, so I should have had a good view, buuuut in my direct line of sight, the soundboard (or whatever it's called) was set up and I couldn't see the stage at all... only the big screens. The stadium filled up, but noooobody sat near me. I was all alone in the middle of hundreds of empty seats ๐๐ So I got up, got myself a drink, and waited until just before the concert started, when almost everyone was seated. There were actually still a few seats available, so I gathered all my courage and just sat somewhere else. Next to a group of 5 people who were quite nice and even included me in their group ๐๐ And luuuuckily, no one came and claimed their seat ๐
The concert was great! Sooo many songs that I knew! Phil Collins himself is a bit unwell, so he performed the concert sitting down. His son played the drums and he included him quite often. It was a really nice feeling! Because everything happened sooo fast and spontaneously, I didn't really realize that I was seeing Phil Collins live!
After the concert, I went for a beer with the group of people sitting next to me and then returned to the hostel.
That was definitely a major highlight of my trip! ๐๐
On Sunday, January 20th, I slept in and used the morning to reflect on my days in Brisbane... I had to write my diary ๐
In the afternoon, I went to the City Hall (similar to a town hall) and visited the clock tower ๐ Then I took some time for the ferry again and sailed across the river one last time as a farewell to Brisbane. ๐
