This morning we set off for the impressive Times Square. Because right around the corner from all the blinking lights and screens is the New York Madame Tussauds. After a tour of the wax figure museum and a burger, we then drove back to the apartment to be on time for the semifinals in the Beer Garden. Surprisingly, quite a few German fans had gathered there. Even though the result of the game was not so good, it was still a cozy afternoon with German beer and a bratwurst. Afterwards, despite the cloudy sky, we decided to visit the observation platform of the Empire State Building. The view from there is truly breathtakingly beautiful. The city, which usually seems infinitely large, lies literally at your feet from there. Our attempt to visit the 9/11 memorial after dark was unsuccessful, as it is fenced off and guarded by security at night for some reason. Nevertheless, it was another successful day.
