The midday flight from Lima to Arequipa went without any problems. We were able to get to our Airbnb by 3 p.m. with the Uber and slowly get used to the altitude. We are currently at 2400 meters above sea level. Breathing, walking and concentrating are much more difficult. But we wanted it that way. In the evening we had to top up our rations and were able to admire a beautiful Christmas Plaza de Armas. As we learned, this was where the start of the Christmas season took place. There was dancing, music played and lots of small treats sold.
The people here are really warm and seemingly very happy. We chatted with the Uber driver for a while and listened to German rock music, since the people from Arequipa like rock. Now he knows Toten Hosen and Rammstein :D
The first excursion at this altitude was made. It went into a ravine and a quarry. These were at 2800 meters. Not only were the movements strenuous, but the heat (30 degrees) challenged us.
But it was a pleasant choice for the first excursion because it was only scheduled for 4 hours. The guide was great. Nice and interested in us tourists. He was able to explain everything well and answer our questions.
After the trip he let us out at Mundo Alpaka. A textile processing company in the middle of the city of Arequipa. You can go here for free and look at the alpacas and have their work and wool explained to them.
She then went to a nunnery. Well, it was nice... but once is enough!
Slowly we noticed the altitude again. We decided to eat our dinner at 4 p.m. and then buy water for the next day.
Afterwards we fell into bed.
We can now recommend two series:
Code of Crime (Brazilian miniseries) - is about cartels. It was super good.
Completely Destroyed (miniseries - especially on episode 2) - completely funny shit. Level is not cream :D
