Ferry to Norway

Naipablaak: 12.08.2016

Today we overslept. Everyone was still asleep at half past 8. We actually wanted to visit the lighthouse in Hirtshals before the ferry, but we didn't have enough time. It was raining again... Packing everything up, attaching the trailer, and off to the harbor. We queued up 1.5 hours in advance. The wait until we could drive onto the ferry was becoming nerve-wracking. Philip asked a thousand times why it was taking so long, while Jule was getting impatient. It was pouring rain outside, and it was stuffy inside the car. The smell of exhaust fumes was everywhere. Mom was already feeling sick. With a delay, we could finally drive onto the deck. It smelled like a fish stand there. Not good for mom's well-being... On to our seats. We had booked decadent seats in the restaurant with a buffet. It was really huge and everything was delicious. If we could have eaten everything... Philip had booked the unlimited ice cream and fries. While the ship was sailing, mom and Philip watched Tarzan in the kids' cinema. Dad swayed Jule in the Manduca carrier while she slept. Mom struggled with her sense of balance. Cruises, boat tours, etc. are now canceled. Memories of the whale watching tour in Iceland came back. We saw more of the railing going downwards than whales.

Arriving in Kristiansand, we headed to the next camping site. The kids immediately fell back asleep. Somehow, we missed our intended spot and blindly followed a wrong signpost. Well, they still had a pitch available and we are only staying for one night. We are here in Skollevik (20 minutes east of Kristiansand). We arrived around half past 5 and took a walk. There's a cute little bay here with winding boat docks and crystal-clear water - ideal for fishing. But our trip didn't last long because hunger called. We had a round of pasta with tomato sauce. We listened to Madsen at the same time and everyone was in a good mood again. This day was really exhausting. Everyone is already in bed (8:30 p.m.). Dad is reading, Philip is watching TV, Jule is sucking her pacifier, and mom is blogging. Good night!
