Day 5 - 24.06.2024 Banff Fenland Trail and Bow Falls Trail

Naipablaak: 25.06.2024

Today we were in Banff and walked almost 12 km. It was quite a challenge, especially for the girls.

First we went to the Fenland Trail, which was a 2 km circular route. On the way there we of course had to take photos at the "BANFF sign". At the rest area, which was the start and finish of the circular route, we were able to watch Canadian geese families eating, swimming, etc. Then we set off and Juliane thought up a great song to scare away the bears. "I'm going to make noise for the bears so that the bears never come to us again." :-D We were able to watch squirrels, a deer, a beaver and birds on our way. At the end there were also strange noises where we weren't sure whether it was a bear after all....

Then we went back to Banff and after a short break to eat - we hadn't brought anything with us because of the bears (what's worse: a bear or hungry children...?) - we went to the Cascade Gardens and the Banff Spring Hotel (an impressively imposing hotel). Then we went back via the Bow Falls Trail over the waterfalls of the Bow River. The impressions and landscapes were simply amazing and especially the observation of the animals.

In front of the Banff Spring Hotel there was another place where we probably saw chipmunks romping back and forth from their holes and a scout calling out loudly :-)
