On to the heart of Istria. The green oasis of Croatia. We had chosen a campsite for the last days. A sweet little nature camp with simple pitches in the middle of the forest. The owners were very helpful and really nice. A nice little bar where we enjoyed a drink or two. Homemade plum jam included. We actually wanted to go to Austria the next day. However, we heard that Italy is lifting the quarantine for entry. So we found a test station in Istria and took a test in Rovinj the next day. On May 16th at 8:30 in the morning, we drove to Rovinj, where we could explore the city again with more tourists and open shops.
On Monday morning, we drove to Italy. The first stop was Trieste. With some difficulties at the Croatian border, we arrived in Trieste. The view from our campsite was great. The first Aperol Spritz was enjoyed in the oldest café in the city. We explored the city in 2 days.
Gorgeous houses. Many restaurants. Cute little bars. Lots of people. Lots of traffic. On Thursday, we continued towards Venice.
