The kids are sleeping in today. No wonder after the long bedtime marathon yesterday. We'll wake up Samuel at 9:30 a.m. We're all going to the kids' pool. There's a great slide and water games there. It's very hot. However, the sun is taking its time. Unfortunately, time is passing too quickly and we have to leave, as we have a long drive ahead of us today. We want to get to Jervis Bay today and it's almost 300 km away.
We fill up our tank and do some shopping at Woolworths in Merimbula. In Tathra, we stop at a playground and have a snack to fuel up for our road trip. We decide to drive along the coast. The route from Tathra to Bermagui through the Mimosa Rock National Park is very beautiful and diverse. The drive afterwards is also quite enjoyable. Everything is very green and hilly. There are little ponds, lakes, rivers... that make the landscape really picturesque. I can't describe the last 100 km to Jervis Bay. The kids found the driving boring after their afternoon nap and I was in charge of the entertainment program.
We arrive in Huskisson at 6:30 p.m. and check in at the Huskisson White Sands Holiday Park. There are still two powered sites available. The park is a recommendation from our travel guide. The location is good, but the facilities themselves are average (although they are currently being renovated). The campsites and the paths are very tight. Dinner needs to be quick tonight, so we're having pasta.
We go to the beach. There's a great surprise here. Dolphins are swimming in the bay. We're really happy, as these are our first dolphins in Australia. We take a long evening walk and enjoy the beautiful clouds.
Once again, the kids have a hard time falling asleep tonight. The full moon and the high temperatures, or rather the big jump from 15 to 37 degrees within two days, probably contribute to that.
Michi and I have to pull an all-nighter. We still need to find a campsite in Sydney and a hotel in Dubai.
