Day 4: Oslo

Naipablaak: 09.07.2019

The remaining ferry time flies by. We sleep until half past 7, have our breakfast and admire the Oslo Fjord. Then we experience the arrival in Oslo. Just before arrival, we retrieve our luggage and make our way to the vehicles. Now we have to wait, because many cars have to reverse out again. We have never experienced this before. The entry is quick and customs waves us through. It's only a few kilometers to the hotel, but they are challenging because often it's one-way streets or streets only for buses and taxis. To get to the hotel, we have to break the rules because even the navigation system is not helping. Finally, at around 10:30 am, we reach our destination. We park in the underground garage, but we cannot check into our room yet. So we start walking through the main shopping street to the train station. There, we have our lunch in a small Asian snack bar. We hope for fried Chinese noodles, but we probably order soup, which tastes good. Erik is not properly full, and he gets a hamburger on the go. The seagulls are very aggressive, and I try to protect Erik. But one moment of inattention, a seagull steals Erik's food right out of his hand.

After this refreshment, we want to visit the Akershus Fortress. In 1299, King Håkon V Magnusson had Akershus Castle and Fortress built. In the 14th century, the castle complex was further expanded. At the outermost point of the peninsula Akersneset, the medieval castle had a strong strategic location and withstood many sieges over time. From above, you have a beautiful view of the city. We relax a bit in the park areas of the fortress. We skip a tour of the castle.
At the bottom of the facility is the harbor. It's busy because there are also cruise ships in the harbor. Directly adjacent to the harbor is the Aker Brygge district with many restaurants, shops, and modern residential buildings. We stroll along the promenade. Erik eats a big scoop of ice cream for 4 €. Before we walk back to the hotel, we briefly stop at the Nobel Peace Center. There you can learn about the work of Alfred Nobel and the Nobel Peace Prize laureates. However, the annual award ceremony takes place in the opposite town hall. Our hotel room is spacious, and we have enough space for ourselves.
Today, David doesn't sleep at all, everything is too exciting. After dinner, Erik and David fall asleep very tired.

Da sind die Möwen wohl noch aggressiver als in Warnemünde.

Die Möwen verfolgen nur den Plan, uns Menschen vor Fastfood zu beschützen.
